Sunderland AFC (SAFC) has been made aware of fraudulent attempts to sell tickets for the Capital One Cup final against Manchester City at Wembley.
SAFC has issued a warning to its fans that Capital One Cup final tickets for Sunday, March 2 can only be purchased through the club’s official channels.
The club has been made aware of fraudulent attempts to sell tickets for the game, which are now being investigated by the Police, The Football League and SAFC.
Supporters are reminded that each ticket is registered and traceable to the individual who purchased it. Under the terms and conditions of issue, anyone found attempting to sell, or who has sold tickets for the game, will have the tickets cancelled and will also jeopardise their SAFC season card.
Don’t post tickets on social media
The club is also advising supporters to exercise caution by not posting pictures of their tickets on social media. Fraudsters steal these pictures and use them to con victims into buying tickets through illegal channels.
SAFC said “Season card holders can only purchase their ticket in-person at the Stadium of Light ticket office or by telephone, on the 24 hour hotline number, 0871 911 1973. Due to the high volume of calls, supporters are thanked in advance for their patience when contacting the club or call centre. Applications cannot be made online for this fixture”
Supporters must have their customer number available when purchasing tickets as applications cannot be processed without this number.
